The Jandy R0589405 Heat Exchanger Tube Assembly is the genuine Zodiac/Jandy OEM copper heat exchanger for JXi 400K BTU pool and spa heaters. It replaces a leaking, corroded or scaled exchanger and restores proper heat transfer and efficiency.
⚠️ Check Your Heater Size
This exchanger fits 400K BTU JXi heaters only. The 260K model uses R0589403 and the 200K model uses R0589402. Check the rating plate on your heater before ordering — replacement parts are final sale.
Key Features
- Genuine Zodiac/Jandy OEM: Correct tube geometry and header fit for the JXi 400 combustion chamber.
- Copper construction: Efficient heat transfer for standard pool water chemistry.
- Natural gas and propane: Fits all four JXi 400 variants — JXI400N, JXI400NK, JXI400P and JXI400PK.
- Restores efficiency: A corroded exchanger wastes fuel and can leak pool water into the combustion chamber.
- Component-level repair: Far less costly than replacing the complete heater.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit my JXi 200 or JXi 260?
No. Each heater size has its own exchanger — R0589402 for the 200K and R0589403 for the 260K. Only the 400K models take this part.
Should I use copper or cupro-nickel?
Copper is correct for pools with well-managed water chemistry. If you run a salt system, or your pH and chlorine levels swing outside ideal ranges, the cupro-nickel version R0746905 lasts considerably longer in those conditions.
Does it fit both natural gas and propane heaters?
Yes. The exchanger is common to all four JXi 400 variants, including the VersaFlo bypass models.
What symptoms indicate a failed heat exchanger?
Water leaking inside the heater cabinet, rising copper levels in your pool water, visible corrosion or scale on the tubes, or a heater that fires but will not hold temperature.
Can I return it if it turns out to be the wrong part?
Replacement parts of this type are generally final sale and cannot be returned once fitted. Confirm your heater model and serial number before ordering.
Who should install it?
A qualified pool heater technician. The work involves gas and combustion components and requires the heater to be fully isolated, drained and depressurised.
