The Sta-Rite 013068 IntelliPro3 VSF is the fully-loaded 1.5 THP variable speed and flow pool pump: colour touchscreen and the I/O relay control board, both factory-installed. The relays let the pump switch a pool light or salt cell on its own, so a simple pad does not need a separate automation panel.
What the I/O Relay Board Actually Does
It adds two high-voltage terminals on the pump itself:
- Relay 1 — 5 A maximum, selectable for Lights, Salt Cell or Other
- Relay 2 — 16 A maximum, selectable for Lights, Salt Cell, Booster Pump or Other
If you already run IntelliCenter or EasyTouch, you probably do not need this board — your automation panel already switches those loads, and the cheaper 013067 is the same pump with just the touchscreen. The I/O board earns its keep on pads with no automation panel.
Which IntelliPro3 Do I Need?
All four 1.5 HP IntelliPro3 pumps are the same pump hydraulically and electrically. Only the control hardware differs:
- 013065 — base, no touchscreen, no relay board
- 013066 — I/O relay board only
- 013067 — touchscreen only
- 013068 (this one) — touchscreen and I/O relay board
⚠️ This Pump Is Not Equipped with SVRS
Pentair's installation guide states plainly that this pump "is not equipped with Safety Vacuum Release System (SVRS) protection and does not protect against body or limb entrapments." If your installation requires SVRS, you need a different pump or an approved SVRS device.
Efficiency
Rated WEF 9.4 against a DOE minimum of 6.84 — roughly 37 percent better than the federal floor — and ENERGY STAR certified. Being a true variable speed pump, it also satisfies California's variable speed requirement for pool pump replacements. Installation Requirements
Pentair requires installation by a licensed or certified electrician, with GFCI protection. Bonding needs a solid copper conductor no smaller than 8 AWG (6 AWG or larger in Canada). Note the voltage difference when sizing the circuit: at 115V the pump draws 12.0 A, at 208-230V only 6.4-5.9 A. The relay terminals carry high voltage and must be wired by the same qualified professional.

What is the difference between 013068 and 013067?
Only the I/O relay board. Both have the touchscreen and both are the same pump otherwise. 013068 adds two onboard relays so it can switch a pool light, salt cell or booster pump directly. If you already have an automation panel, 013067 saves you money for the same pump performance.
Do I still need an automation system?
For a simple pool with a light and a salt cell, often not — that is exactly what the two relays cover. For heaters, multiple valve actuators, spa control or more circuits, you still want IntelliCenter or EasyTouch, and the pump connects to either over RS-485.
Is this the same as the IntelliFlo3 011068?
Mechanically yes. IntelliPro3 is the Sta-Rite-branded black cabinet sold through the trade channel; IntelliFlo3 is the Pentair-branded almond version. Same pump, same WEF 9.4, different colour and channel.
Can I run it on 115V?
Yes, it is dual voltage. It draws 12.0 A at 115V versus 6.4-5.9 A at 208-230V, so a 115V installation needs meaningfully more circuit capacity. Your electrician should size accordingly.
Does it come with the strainer pot?
Yes. This is a complete pump, not a drive or motor only. The strainer pot and basket are part of it.
Do I need 2 inch plumbing?
No. It ships configured for 2 in with a reducer bushing included for 1.5 in, so either works without buying adapters.
What can I plug into the relays?
